Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State have instituted a suit at the State High Court, Gusau, challenging their suspension from the party.

The APC leaders were suspended for attending Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front’s stakeholders meeting on 11th November 2025, in Gusau, the state capital.

The suit was instituted by Babangida Aliyu Shinkafi, who is the APC chairman, Shinkafi South Ward; Kabiru Ibrahim, APC Welfare Secretary, Shinkafi Local Government and Ibrahim DD Kurya, representative of People With Disabilities, PWD, Shinkafi Local Government against APC.

Others are Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako Gusau, the APC Zamfara State Chairman and Alhaji Ibrahim Bama Shinkafi, APC Chairman, Shinkafi Local Government.

The affected party leaders sought a court declaration that they are bona fide members of the APC.

They also sought a declaration that any purported suspension, expulsion, intimidation, harassment or termination of their membership from APC by the defendants or any other person howsoever called, is unconstitutional, illegal, unlawful, null and void.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, servants, assigns or any other person from taking further steps to suspend, expel, intimidate, harass, terminate the membership or discriminate against them.

“An order of court directing maintenance of status quo and suspension of all actions to do with suspension, expulsion, intimidation, harassment, termination of membership or discrimination against them, the subject matter of this action, pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.”

The plaintiffs said they were elected at APC congress in 2022 and their tenures subsist, stressing that they belong to the political camp of Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the leader of Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front.

They averred that Alhaji Ibrahim Bama Shinkafi, the APC Chairman of Shinkafi Local Government orally suspended them without just cause and reasonable grounds that they have violated the party constitution and further failed to give them an opportunity to to defend themselves.

That all efforts made to stop their suspension failed, and they have to approach the court for redress.

The suit was filed by their counsel, Bello Idris Galadi and Associates dated 14th November 2025.

DAILY POST reports that the Zamfara State APC has been in crisis following its defeat by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 and 2023 governorship elections, which has been blamed on the imposition of candidates, suspension, expulsion, marginalisation of party leaders and members in the state.
