THE Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has dismissed speculations suggesting he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his commitment to the party.

Speaking during an interview today, Governor Lawal described the reports of his alleged defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Party (ADC) as mere rumours with no basis.

“First of all, I’m glad you called it a rumour,” the governor said when questioned about the claims. “I am a card-carrying member of the PDP, and I remain committed to the party. I have no intention of going anywhere.”

The governor’s statement comes amid reports that several opposition parties, including the recently adopted ADC, have been lobbying him to switch allegiance.

Reiterating his stance, Governor Lawal emphasized that he is focused on his mandate under the PDP and is not considering defection at this time.

The clarification puts to rest growing political speculation surrounding his political future.
