All the schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic Private Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, have been released.

The final batch of 115 students regained their freedom on Sunday, bringing the total number of rescued pupils to about 265, officials confirmed.

The students were kidnapped on November 21, 2025, when armed men attacked the boarding school, abducting 303 students and 12 teachers.

About 50 students escaped shortly after the attack, while another 100 were released on December 8 after security operations.

The latest release ends a month-long ordeal for the victims and their families and marks the conclusion of one of the largest school abductions recorded in recent years.
