Twelve terrorists suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) group have been killed in Borno State.
The suspects were killed during an onslaught by troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the state.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism expert in a post on X quoted security forces as saying that the onslaught on the terrorists was achieved with collaboration frommembers of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security agencies.
According to Makama, the suspects were killed during a long-range tactical operation conducted between August 29 and 30.
He said the incident occurred in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, Gaza, and Loskori Kura villages of Borni State.
Weapons including six AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, and a cache of assorted drugs were recovered during the operation recovered from the terrorists.
The sources were quoted as saying, “Some of the terrorists were observed receiving treatment from injuries sustained in an earlier encounter with troops the previous day.”
He added that the movement of supplies and other logistics for the terrorists was disrupted by the security operation.
