A total of 14 children who were rescued from Anambra State after being trafficked from Adamawa have been reunited with their families.
The children, rescued from traffickers last month were officially handed over to their families by the government in Yola on Wednesday.
They were handed over to their parents by the deputy governor of Adamawa State, Kaletapwa Farauta on behalf of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who is currently out of the country.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Farauta said, “The monster of child trafficking unfortunately caught up with Adamawa State but that it is gladdening that the children are back to be with their parents.”
She also noted that the woman responsible for the ugly incident of child trafficking specialises in taking the kids away from their parents by luring them with snacks.
In addition, the woman in question, after enticing the children sold them for a few to her accomplice in Anambra State.
The children, initially said to be 13 were later joined by one of them who had been under medical attention at a hospital.
The deputy governor also confirmed that the parents were gifted N100,000 from the state government to start small businesses and take care of their children.
