2024, significant turning point for NIWA – MD

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Mr. Nola Oyebamiji, has stated that the year 2024 was a significant turning point for NIWA.

He added that despite some challenges faced, the agency demonstrated resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to its vision and mission.

Oyebamiji disclosed this in his New Year message to the staff of the NIWA titled, ‘A message of hope and commitment for the New Year 2025’ sighted by The PUNCH on Sunday.

“The year 2024 was a significant turning point for the National Inland Waterways Authority. Despite some challenges we faced, we demonstrated resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment to our vision and mission. Together, we achieved milestones that have not only strengthened our operations but have also laid a solid foundation for the future of our Inland Waterways,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to Almighty God for the gift of life and health, adding that it’s a privilege to witness and see the end of 2024.

According to him, as Nigerians stand on the threshold of a new year, “I would like to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey we have embarked upon together and to share a message of hope and inspiration for the year, 2025.”

He advised the staff members of NIWA to carry forward the lessons learnt and the successes achieved in 2024 into 2025.

“As we move into 2025, let us carry forward the lessons learnt and the successes achieved. This new year presents us with an opportunity to build upon our past accomplishments and to strive for even greater heights. Our collective efforts have the power to transform the Inland Waterways sector, enhancing connectivity, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering economic growth,” Oyebamiji advised.

He urged the staff members to embrace the New Year with renewed hope, energy, and optimism, reiterating that together, the agency can continue to innovate, collaborate, and serve with dedication and excellence.

“I encourage each of you to set ambitious goals for the Authority and yourselves and to support one another in achieving them,” he concluded.
