The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that the Results Viewing Portal (IREV) is not meant for the collation of election results.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Osun, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, made this known on Thursday during a media parley with the Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOPA) in Osogbo.
Agboke explained that results uploaded on the IREV portal are for viewing purposes only and should not be considered as the final election results.
He also vowed to engage the ICPC, EFCC, and other security agencies to curb vote-buying in the 2026 elections, stressing that anyone caught will face the law.
The REC further urged political parties to promote women and youth participation in politics. He also called on women to actively engage in politics to achieve gender equity.
Agboke reassured Osun residents that their votes would count in the 2026 governorship election, while appealing for their cooperation and support to ensure the commission’s success.
