The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that the newly formed coalition with prominent Nigerian politicians is aimed at building a future, stating that things won’t be business as usual.

The party, in a strongly worded statement posted on its official social media handles, said the coalition is not just a party realignment but a “gathering of minds committed to real change.”

Naijaonpoint reported earlier that the entire leadership of the ADC across all states officially stepped down to facilitate the transition of the party structure to the 2027 opposition coalition.

The former ADC National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, announced this on Wednesday at an expanded meeting held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua centre, Abuja.

In a subsequent publication, which accompanied images from the official unveiling of the coalition earlier on Wednesday, the ADC emphasised unity, purpose, and people-focused governance as the pillars of its movement.

“We’re not here to play politics. We’re here to build a future,” the statement read.

“ADC Coalition is more than a political movement; it’s a gathering of minds committed to real change. We ask the hard questions. We build real solutions. We’re not moved by hype, we’re moved by purpose.

“Coalition of Unity. Not a party. A people. Let’s reason. Let’s rise. Let’s rebuild,” the party declared.

The unveiling comes amid growing dissatisfaction with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and renewed calls for a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Naijaonpoint reports that the coalition has seen the reunion of influential figures across Nigeria’s political divides, a development that observers describe as the most formidable opposition front since 2015.

Among those who attended the unveiling were: former Senate President, David Mark, Ex-Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung; Senator Dino Melaye; Media personality, Dele Momodu; Senator Gabriel Suswam, Senator Ireti Kingibe (Labour Party), ex-Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha; former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.).

The coalition’s emergence has further intensified speculation that a broad opposition front may be preparing to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s expected re-election bid in 2027.

While critics have called it a rebranding of familiar political faces, ADC insists its mission goes beyond personalities.

“We’re building a platform where values matter, where integrity counts, and where the people come first,” the party added in a follow-up message.
