The immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Mabel Oboh, on Sunday expressed confidence that the newly formed coalition within the party has what it takes to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
Oboh, in a statement made available to journalists in Benin, described the coalition as a step in the right direction, adding that it would help correct many of the wrongs in Nigeria’s political history.
According to her, the individuals who make up the coalition are seasoned politicians with proven records and the capacity to galvanise massive support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections.
She credited the party’s growth and resilience to purposeful leadership, transparency, and accountability, which she said have become hallmarks of the ADC.
“The party has faced turbulent times over the years. But we pulled through because of the unity of purpose and a shared commitment to rescuing Nigeria and improving the lives of its people”, she said.
Oboh, who was the ADC’s governorship candidate in the 2020 Edo State election, also praised the party for giving her the opportunity to serve as its national publicity secretary, describing the experience as invaluable.
“That role allowed me to broaden my horizon and apply my media experience to promote the party’s vision,” she added.
Commenting on the party’s internal policies, she said, “The ADC’s commitment to gender inclusivity has further endeared it to right-thinking Nigerians.
“During the 2020 governorship race, I was proud to showcase the party’s ideals and help make it a household name in Edo State.”
She added that she remains open and willing to contribute her quota to the continued growth of the ADC, especially at a time when the coalition is gaining momentum for the betterment of Nigeria.
“The new coalition will steer the ship of the nation in the right direction. It is made up of credible Nigerians committed to rebuilding the country, and I believe the ADC is well-positioned to lead that change,” she concluded.
