Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President, David Mark, and former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, are among several high-ranking members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) currently engaged in a high-level strategy meeting in Abuja as plans intensify to form a formidable coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Naijaonpoint gathered that the closed-door meeting, which is taking place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, is part of ongoing consultations among PDP heavyweights and political allies exploring the formation of an alliance to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
Alongside Atiku and Lamido, other PDP chieftains present include former PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, and ex-governors, Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi).
Insiders at the venue told Punch that the meeting, presided over by David Mark, is centred on whether the coalition should operate within the PDP structure or align fully with a new political platform while forging an electoral pact.
There are strong indications that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been selected as the coalition’s umbrella platform, with Senator David Mark reportedly chosen to serve as interim chairman of the proposed movement.
Also present at the Abuja meeting are Senator Ben Obi, former PDP National Women Leader Josephine Anenih, former National Organising Secretary Senator Austin Akobundu, ex-National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, and former National Youth Leader Abdullahi Maibasira, among others.
