2027: Atiku meets ex-Tinubu’s ally Aregbesola in Osun (Video)

Aregbesola has been a long standing ally of President Tinubu but their relationship went sour during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.

Currently, Atiku is spearheading the formation of an opposition coalition aimed at removing Tinubu from power in 2027.

The former Vice President met with former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and ex-Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday night.

Confirming the meeting, El-Rufai said serious issues were discussed, adding that the coalition will retire Tinubu to Lagos in 2027.

This is coming barely a day after the 22 APC senators and national assembly members endoresed Tinubu as the sole candidate in the 2027 election.

The endorsement was announced at the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. The summit was themed Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption as the APC’s sole candidate, which was seconded by the PGF Vice Chairman, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The motion was put to a voice vote and adopted with a standing ovation by summit participants, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, serving and former governors, and APC members from across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

This development follows a similar endorsement by the Northwest APC faction just five days earlier, signalling growing intra-party consensus behind Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
