The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that President Bola Tinubu remains unstoppable ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Lagos State chapter of the APC, which made the declaration in a statement on Saturday, asserted that the politics of ethnicity and religion can not work against Tinubu in the 2027 polls.
The position of the party was made known in a statement by its Lagos State spokesperson, Seye Oladejo.
Oladejo’s statement comes as a direct response to an earlier claim by Dele Momodu, who argued that the only way opposition parties can stop Tinubu in the 2027 elections is to play the ethnic and religious cards by locking down the North with a strong candidate from the region.
However, Oladejo countered the claim in his statement, arguing that Nigeria’s politics has evolved beyond such tactics.
He said, “Let it be known that the days of weaponising ethnicity as a shortcut to power are long gone.
“The Nigerian electorate has evolved. They are now focused on who can deliver results, not who can divide the nation.
“Nigerians know better. They know that leadership is earned through vision, performance, and consistency – not through editorials written from the sidelines of social gigs.”
The Lagos APC spokesperson urged Momodu, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to focus on his new party, adding that Nigerians are satisfied with the leadership of Tinubu.
Oladejo predicted failure for the opposition parties in the 2027 elections.
“This administration is proving that leadership is about ideas, not identity.
“Truth be told, political realists have accepted the defeat of the opposition, come the year 2027, individually and collectively.
“The 2027 election will be a referendum on competence and performance, not on ethnicity or nostalgia. And in that contest, Dele Momodu’s brand of political showmanship will have no place,” he added.
