2027: Gov Sule Cautions Aspirants, Says He’ll Publicly Endorse Successor

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has appealed to political stakeholders, particularly governorship aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC), to avoid actions that could heat up the polity as the 2027 race draws closer.

Speaking during an APC stakeholders’ meeting for Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone held on Sunday in Keffi, the governor called for maturity, unity, and adherence to due process, assuring that the party’s primaries will be free and fair.

Naijaonpoint reports that Sule said, “I am responsible for ensuring the primary election is free, fair, and transparent.”

Governor Sule, while urging aspirants to put party interest above personal ambition, disclosed that he would name his preferred successor at the right time.

“But A.A. Sule also has the right to support someone. When the time comes, I’ll clearly name my preferred candidate.
And I will not be afraid to publicly endorse who I believe should succeed me,” the governor said.

He, however, reminded party faithful that true power comes from God, saying leadership is ultimately determined by divine will.

“Power is from God. Let’s avoid unnecessary tension and work for the growth of our party,” he added.

Former APC National Chairman and ex-governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, used the platform to make a strong case for Nasarawa West (Keffi Zone) to produce the next governor in 2027.

“Keffi Zone governed for eight years, Lafia for twelve. Akwanga is currently serving its second and final term. Therefore, the Western (Keffi) Zone should produce the next governor in 2027,” Adamu argued.

He urged stakeholders in the zone to close ranks and mobilise support for their governorship bid, warning against internal divisions that could sabotage the zone’s chances.

“This meeting is meant to foster unity and mobilise strength ahead of 2027. Let us remain united,” he said.

Governor Sule also commended party members for their orderly conduct during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Nasarawa, praising their maturity and discipline.

He further encouraged other senatorial zones to emulate the Keffi meeting by organising stakeholder forums that would enhance party cohesion ahead of the general elections.

“I appreciate the initiators of this meeting. I also urge other zones to replicate such engagements for the benefit of our party,” he said.

The stakeholders’ meeting, convened to strategize for the 2027 elections, drew attendance from prominent APC chieftains at both the state and national levels.
