2027: Lagos APC Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu for Second Term

APC

Stakeholders of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu to seek a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Tuesday during the APC Stakeholders Forum 2025 held in Victoria Island, where party members and leaders gathered to reaffirm their loyalty to the president and review the party’s achievements.

The event was attended by a host of political heavyweights, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his predecessors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and his wife Oluremi, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, members of the APC National and State Working Committees, federal and state lawmakers, political appointees, local government chairmen, and leaders of traditional, religious, women, youth, and student groups.

The motion endorsing President Tinubu for another term was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Speaker Obasa.

Both leaders said the President’s performance in the last two years had justified the confidence reposed in him by Nigerians.

“We endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go for the second time. So I move,” Oba Shotobi declared.

Obasa, while seconding the motion, said the endorsement reflected the collective decision of Lagos residents.

“In view of the submissions made by all the stakeholders and the motion just being moved by our Royal Majesty of Ikorodu, I do hereby second the motion of my colleagues from Lagos State and of our assembly and the people of Lagos State. I second,” he reaffirmed.

In his remarks, Sanwo-Olu said the resolution was a unanimous expression of confidence in the president’s leadership and a recognition of his impact since taking office in 2023.

“Our president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was once the 12th Governor of Lagos State. We have listened to all of our stakeholders here today. And all of the representatives of the stakeholders in the Lagos APC have come to the conclusion that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should return as our president in 2027.

“I believe that this message will get to Aso Rock, it will get to the Villa and will get to all the nooks and crannies of this great country,” he said.

Deputy Governor Hamzat urged party members to sustain their support for the president, stressing that his administration’s reforms were rebuilding the nation’s economy and restoring public confidence in governance.

“The reforms being experienced under the leadership of our revered leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, are being driven by renewed hope, productive governance, and economic recovery. It is, therefore, in our collective interest and in the spirit of progress that we, as loyal members of the APC family in Lagos State, endorse and support the leadership at the federal level for a second term,” Hamzat said.

Former Governor Fashola, who delivered a lecture titled “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Election in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” called on APC members to engage more with the electorate, especially the youth, to ensure a large voter turnout in 2027.

“Political party participation is based on enthusiasm. If people are enthusiastic, they will turn out to vote. But hope is not lost because we are in a season of renewed hope, and therefore we will turn it into a renewed hope for our party and programmes,” he said.

Other speakers, including members of the Federal Executive Council and the National Assembly, outlined the administration’s achievements in various sectors.
