2027: Nigeria Was Better Under Buhari – Amaechi

Rotimi Amaech

A former Minister of Transportation and two-term Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has asserted that Nigeria was better economically and in terms of security under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Amaechi declared that President Bola Tinubu was never the right choice to lead Nigeria.

Naijaonpoint reports that the former Minister made the damning remarks on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of the interim national executive of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said he has consistently questioned Tinubu’s capacity to govern and warned that the present administration has failed to meet Nigerians’ expectations.

“I have never believed that Tinubu is a material to govern the country,” Amaechi declared pointedly.

He added that the current economic and security challenges have left many Nigerians longing for the return of former President Muhammadu Buhari, under whom he served as minister for eight years.

“People are asking for Buhari because things were better during Buhari’s administration,” Amaechi said.

Naijaonpoint reports that Amaechi’s statement comes amid his growing alignment with opposition forces working under the ADC platform to challenge the APC’s hold on power ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event also marked the formal introduction of the ADC’s interim leadership, which includes prominent political figures such as former Senate President David Mark and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Amaechi, who lost to Tinubu in the APC’s 2022 presidential primaries, has become increasingly vocal about the direction of the country and the leadership of his former party.
