2027: NNPP Will Be Defeated Before 1pm On Election Day – Kano Lawmaker

A lawmaker from Kano State, Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has predicted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will face defeat in the 2027 elections long before the polls officially close.

According to Doguwa, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in Kano before 1 p.m. on election day. 

Doguwa, who serves as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), made this statement during an empowerment program held in Kano on Sunday. The event was organized by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, to support grassroots party members. 

Addressing a large crowd of APC supporters, Doguwa said that the current harmony within the APC would make it easy for the party to defeat the NNPP and reclaim power in the state. 

“With the unity in our party now, by God’s grace, we will reclaim our mandate in Kano before 1 p.m. on election day in 2027. The NNPP will be defeated,” Doguwa said.

His remarks come amid ongoing political tension between the APC and the NNPP in Kano, a state that has been a battleground for both parties in recent elections in 2019 and 2023. 

The empowerment program, held in Kano, saw the distribution of 1,037 motorcycles and 63 cars to APC leaders at both ward and local government levels.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, while speaking at the event, said the initiative was designed to support loyal party members and strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure. 

“We decided to start with empowering our party leaders who are part and parcel of the society,” Barau explained. “Many of them are hardworking farmers and businesspeople. This empowerment will make their lives easier and allow them to support the party even more.” 

Barau further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians. He specifically mentioned the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which now allows students from families with limited means to access higher education without financial struggles. 

“The President has introduced several programs for us,” Barau stated. “With NELFUND, students can now go to school without worrying about tuition fees. The administration has also set up a commission to improve infrastructure across the country.” 

The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also spoke at the event. He praised President Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying that the country was beginning to see positive changes. 

“We have to thank Mr. President for the reforms he initiated,” Ganduje said. “We are already seeing the results. The cost of petrol is coming down, food prices are reducing, and the Naira is appreciating. These are clear signs that Nigeria is on the path to progress.” 

According to Ganduje, the APC remains committed to improving the lives of Nigerians and ensuring that the country moves forward under Tinubu’s leadership.
