2027: PDP gubernatorial aspirant seeks councillors’ support to succeed Makinde in Oyo

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has sought the support of councillors in the state to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027.

Oguntoyinbo made the appeal during a meeting with councilors from the 33 local government areas in the state.

DAILY POST reports that the meeting was held at Iseyin City Hall on Tuesday.

Oguntoyinbo, while addressing the gathering, noted that his aspiration to govern the state was driven by a commitment to protect and deepen Makinde’s governance reforms.

He maintained that he has the vision to  strengthen grassroots participation in decision-making.

Oguntoyinbo, said “I am here because you are the closest leaders to the people, Governor Seyi Makinde has done exceptionally well and Oyo State cannot afford to hand over this progress to the wrong hands.

“We are gathered here today because we are bonafide members of the PDP.”

Leader of the House from Egbeda Local Government, Olasunkanmi Olusola described the aspirant as the first to formally recognise the relevance of councillors in the state’s political structure.

Olusola said, “This is the first governorship aspirant to recognise us as stakeholders.”
