Former spokesman to ex-Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

Naijaonpoint reports that Akande, speaking during Channels Television’s programme, Inside Sources, on Friday, said the zoning is an indication that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was right.

According to him, the PDP‘s decision might be late but it is better than never, stressing that the zoning of its presidential ticket to the South marks the beginning of the party’s resurrection.

Akande added that the North cannot produce successors, emphasising that power must rotate to the South.

He said, “The PDP has now resolved to bold to zone the presidency to the South, Nyesom Wike is right because it seems to be a late decision but better late than never.

“The idea that eight years will go to the North, eight will go to the South in its consensus of rotational presidency is something that everyone in the political scene ought to keep faithful to.

“We can’t have a situation where eight years of the North is followed by another eight or four years from the North, it’s just not fair.

“So kudos to PDP for coming back to common sense. I dare say that this move by the PDP to zone the presidency to the South for 2027 is the beginning of the resurrection of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
