A political support group, Grassroot Youths for Good Governance (GYGG), has commenced campaign for the return of Akinwunmi Ambode as the next governor of Lagos state.
Ambode, a former accountant general of Lagos, was the governor of the south-west state from 2015 to 2019.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday in Lagos, Mike Kayode, national coordinator of the group, described Ambode as a visionary whose first term left a lasting impact on the state.
Kayode said: “Lagos witnessed a golden era under Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
“His administration stood out for massive infrastructure renewal, an efficient and modernised transport system, and a business-friendly environment that attracted both local and foreign investors.”
He said Ambode’s return would bring a renewed focus on inclusive development, technological advancement and economic prosperity, especially for youths and grassroots communities.
“Lagosians deserve a leader who understands the state’s challenges and has a proven track record of performance. Ambode ticks all the boxes,” he added.
Seyi Bamigbade, director-general of the Ambode Support Group, urged Nigerians of voting age to register for their permanent voter cards (PVCs) ahead of the next election cycle.
