The family of Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Baba, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over alleged assault and financial misappropriation involving his wife, Natasha Osawuru.
In a letter dated November 12, the Idibia family urged the police to launch an investigation into incidents they say have caused the singer emotional distress, financial loss, and reputational harm.
According to the petition, reports were received from 2Baba and witnesses alleging incidents of physical assault in both the United Kingdom and Abuja.
The family further alleged that Natasha accessed and transferred funds from the singer’s phone and bank accounts without his permission.
She is also accused of withholding 2Baba’s personal documents, including his passport, allegedly preventing him from fulfilling business engagements.
“These actions have exposed him to financial setbacks and public embarrassment,” the petition read, raising concerns about the singer’s emotional well-being and safety.
The petition further alleged fraudulent misrepresentation and a violation of marriage laws. The Idibia family claimed that 2Baba had not finalised his divorce from Annie Macauley Idibia before Natasha began presenting herself as his new wife.
They described the situation as compromising the singer’s safety, career, and financial stability, thereby necessitating urgent police intervention.
Naijaonpoint recalls that the controversy reached a wider audience during a live stream hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze, where 2Baba’s former managers, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, accused Natasha of trying to gain full control over the singer’s finances and career.
2Baba, who suddenly joined the live session, angrily demanded that they stop discussing his private life. Moments later, a heated argument between him and Natasha was heard off-camera before the stream abruptly ended.
In reaction to the episode, Hyacinth Idibia shared lyrics from 2Baba’s song Diaspora Woman on his Instagram story, suggesting internal family distress.
Meanwhile, the Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Osawuru, who represents Egor Constituency, to appear before its ethics and privileges committee over her recent viral conduct.
