The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two students of the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), along with another suspect, over their alleged involvement in assault, cyberbullying, and forceful abduction.
One of the suspects, identified as Kadi, was apprehended alongside two accomplices following investigations into the incident. Police authorities confirmed that the suspects are in custody and will undergo further interrogation before being charged in court.
The command reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order across the state.
In a shocking twist, one of the suspects, 20-year-old FUO student Blessing Daniel, narrated her role in the viral incident.
She admitted that she was under the influence of alcohol when she and her friends maltreated and nearly murdered her friend, an act that sparked outrage after a disturbing video surfaced online.
It was gathered that Daniel, together with three accomplices, lured the victim, Miss Nancy Wilfred, to their apartment, where they assaulted her, stripped her naked, and humiliated her while one of them filmed the attack.
The footage was later shared on social media, triggering widespread condemnation.
Speaking further, Daniel expressed regret but claimed she acted out of anger, alleging that the victim had been spreading false information about her.
“We were four, but Favour, who sparked the attack, is on the run. We didn’t know it was going to be this bad. If we were in our right minds, we wouldn’t have gone this far. She lied to people that I did ‘Kayamata’, so I confronted her and she didn’t say anything, so I slapped her and she pushed me, and we started fighting,” she said.
“We called her that the laundry man who does our washing wanted her to come and get her stuff, so when she came, we were arguing inside the house before the incident occurred. Favour sparked the anger in me; that made the attack worse.”
