The Police at the Ebute-Ero division, Idumota, Lagos Island of the Nigeria Police have arrested three sales managers and charged them before a Lagos Magistrates’ court for allegedly selling their employer’s goods valued at N7.8m and converted the proceeds to their personal use instead of remitting the money into their employer’s account.
Police alleged that the defendants Fuad Iyaniwura, 23, Suleiman Akeem, 37, and Odusanya Adenuga, 55, sold their employer’s twenty cartons of top tea, twenty cartons of Cowbel chocolate, 15 cartons of Loya milk, twenty-five cartons of Cowbell coffee and other products all valued N7,800,000 and allegedly converted the proceeds to their use.
Police further alleged that nemesis, however, caught up with the defendants when the complainant audited the account of his goods, uncovered the fraud and reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ebute-Ero division, CSP Rotimi Agunloye who swiftly directed his crack team to fish out the defendants.
After an investigation by DSP Moturayo Ogunsokan and team, the defendants were charged before the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of felony to Wit: stealing.
Police prosecuting Counsel, Ishola Samuel told the Court in the charge marked TB/31/2024 that the defendants committed the offence between January and April 2024 at Ejalonibu Alakoro, Lagos Island. Lagos.

Samuel informed the court that the defendants being sales managers to the complainant betrayed the trust their employer reposed in them, sold his goods valued at N7.8m and converted the proceeds to their use instead of remitting the money into their employer’s account.
He said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and their counsels, Barr Victor Olowo and Anayo Agbo prayed the Court to grant them bail in the most liberal terms, adding that the defendants would not jump bail if granted.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A. A Paul granted them N500,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
Magistrate Paul adjourned the case and ordered that the defendants be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till they perfected the bail conditions.
