As Hot 97 quietly closed the book on Ebro In The Morning, 50 Cent reignited his long-running tension with host Ebro Darden by claiming he had a hand in the morning show’s removal.
50 remarked on Instagram while responding to an old clip that resurfaced following the program’s final broadcast.
In the video, Ebro revisited his belief that 50’s dominance in the early 2000s damaged New York’s hip hop ecosystem. “It was 50 Cent who ruined New York hip hop,” Ebro said, arguing that artists stopped collaborating because no one wanted to compete with his momentum. “Everybody was hemming and hawing because nobody wanted to work together.”

50’s response was blunt and on brand. “That’s why I put a word in to have your show taken off the air,” he wrote, adding, “You can’t just go around saying nasty things about people.”
Reaction to the show’s cancellation has been divided. Some listeners expressed disappointment, calling the program a staple of New York radio, while others said the change felt overdue.
Funkmaster Flex initially announced that he would be “temporarily” replacing Ebro in the Morning, but on Thursday, he revealed that he may be filling in permanently due to the positive feedback from listeners.
