Tekashi 6ix9ine is headed back behind bars after a judge decided he had pushed the limits of his supervised release one time too many, slapping him with a three-month prison term.
Prosecutors had argued he deserved even more time, saying 6ix9ine repeatedly ignored the rules set for him when he was freed early in 2020 after turning on his co-defendants and cooperating in a federal racketeering case.
His testimony against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods helped him secure leniency years ago, but his behavior since then has kept him under a harsh spotlight.
6ix9ine admitted last year to using drugs and taking an unauthorized trip to Las Vegas, which earned him 45 days in jail and an extra year of supervision. This year, authorities said he was caught with cocaine and MDMA, and later became involved in a physical altercation at a Florida mall.
His attorneys pushed for a softer outcome, asking for six months of house arrest instead of a return to federal custody. They argued that the drugs involved were minimal and the mall confrontation caused no serious injuries. Defense lawyer Lance Lazzaro said prison time is especially punishing for 6ix9ine because he is kept “isolated from other inmates” for his own safety, leaving him with “limited interaction” and almost no access to “fresh air or exercise.”
The judge denied the request, and 6ix9ine is now expected to report to prison on January 6, 2026.
