An 80-year-old man, Isiyaka Ayinde, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in the kitchen at the Watch Tower in the Araromi Imota area of Lagos State.

The spokesperson for Lagos Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the suicide by the octogenarian on Friday.

He said police operatives in Imota have visited the scene of the incident to take evidence.

  • Aloma Onunka, 40, docked for defiling 15-year-old girl
  • Lagos student, 13, remanded for allegedly defiling 6-year-old girl

However, he said the man has been buried as insisted by his family.

“The scene has been visited by the DCB personnel of the division, and photographs were taken.

“The family of the deceased is not interested in depositing the body at the mortuary but rather prefer burying the corpse immediately as a result of the age and religious inclination of the deceased,” The Nation newspaper quoted Hundeyin as saying.
