WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Lloyd Pennant has urged Chelsea to step up their bid to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Footynaija.com reports. Chelsea are known admirers of Osimhen and the West London giants failed in their bid to lure the Nigeria international to Stamford Bridge last summer despite Napoli’s willingness to cut ties with him. Osimhen eventually sealed a move to Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray where he has enjoyed a superbly prolific campaign, racking up a tally of 26 goals in 30 appearances so far this season. Former Chelsea players including Claude Makelele and John Obi Mikel have openly expressed their desires to see Osimhen become a Blues player, with the latter even going on to claim that a deal could easily be struck if Chelsea went in for the striker. In addition to Makelele and Mikel, Pennant, who made 350 Premier League appearances for seven different clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool, has encouraged the 2021 Champions League winners to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge. “He (Osimhen) would change things for Chelsea without a shout of a doubt,” Pennant told talkSPORT. “He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are frightening, his numbers are great. “I’m gonna look back to Jackson and how many chances he gets a game, but the conversion rate isn’t great. He can have three or four clear-cut chances and he won’t put any if them away. “You’re scratching your head, thinking about how have Chelsea come away with a draw or a loss. I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal would boost Chelsea or boost any team.”
