The youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has congratulated Seyi Tinubu on his installation as Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

The traditional title was conferred by Oba Abimbola Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo.

In a congratulatory message made available to journalists, Belusochukwu Enwere, president of YOWICAN, described the installation as a significant cultural honour reflecting recognition of leadership, service and commitment to societal development.

He said the conferment underscores the enduring relevance of Nigeria’s traditional institutions in promoting unity, peace and communal values.

Enwere said the decision of the Alaafin to bestow the title on Tinubu is symbolic at a time the country needs bridges of understanding across generations, faiths and ethnic divides.

“This installation is not just a personal honour but a call to greater responsibility and service to humanity. It represents trust and confidence in the ability of the recipient to contribute meaningfully to the development of society, especially in uplifting young people,” Enwere said.

The YOWICAN president commended the Alaafin of Oyo for sustaining Yoruba cultural heritage and using traditional institutions to promote values of service, integrity and leadership among youths.

He said such gestures strengthen the bond between modern leadership and age-long cultural institutions.

Enwere said Tinubu’s involvement in youth-focused initiatives, philanthropy and social development shows that his influence transcends political lineage.

“As youths, we see this honour as an opportunity for renewed engagement. It is our hope that the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland will further inspire Seyi Tinubu to champion causes that promote youth empowerment, peaceful coexistence and national development,” Enwere said.

He also stressed the need for interfaith harmony and national cohesion, noting that recognitions of this nature should foster unity across religious and ethnic lines.

Enwere said the youth wing of CAN remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote responsible leadership and inclusive development among young Nigerians.

He wished Tinubu a successful tenure as Okanlomo of Yorubaland, praying for wisdom, humility and strength to uphold the values of the title.

The installation of Tinubu by the Alaafin of Oyo has continued to attract reactions across political, cultural and youth circles.
