Buyers of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus were disappointed when Apple confirmed that their devices won’t support Apple Intelligence. The suite of AI features is one of the key features of the company’s current and future devices, and it was a real bummer to feel like they were left out of it. That said, a new program could help them unlock iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro features, including Apple Intelligence.

You can now unlock iPhone 16 features on older iPhones thanks to Nugget

What prevents Apple Intelligence support on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is their relatively low amount of RAM. For these models, Apple made some compromises by integrating only 6GB of RAM. While this is a “sufficient” amount to run iOS and all its features smoothly, it falls short for AI processing. The iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series integrate 8GB of RAM, so they are compatible. According to leaks, even the affordable iPhone SE 4 will have 8GB of RAM.

However, a developer has released Nugget, a tool that allows users of older iPhones to unlock features of the iPhone 16 series. With “older iPhones” we are not just talking about the iPhone 15 series, but even previous generations. The list of features to unlock is quite long, but highlights include Apple Intelligence, Tap to Wake, Action Button, Dynamic Island, Charge Limit, and Action Button options, among others.

Some things to keep in mind

iOS is not as friendly as Android for installing mods or using software that modifies the system. Therefore, some users may find the installation instructions to be somewhat complicated. Plus, those who have installed iOS 18.2 or later will not be able to use Nugget. Its operation takes advantage of an exploit that Apple fixed in said update. You should also keep in mind that, being an unofficial tool, it could cause instability on your device. After all, it will enable Apple Intelligence on phones with less RAM than officially necessary.

If you still want to try the tool, you can download it from its GitHub repository. There you will also find the instructions and all the necessary files. This may be a good way to check if Apple Intelligence really can’t perform well with 6GB of RAM.
