“A really difficult afternoon”- Cyriel Dessers laments Rangers’ shock loss to St Mirren

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has expressed disappointment at Rangers’ surpruse 2-0 loss to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dessers returned to Scottish Premiership action with a game against St. Mirren at the Ibrox Stadium. The Gers were massive favorites to get the win due to the gulf in quality between them.

Rangers dominated the encounter, as they saw 65 percent of the possession. They also registered 17 goal attempts. But ultimately, it was not good enough, as second half goal from Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya sealed the victory for the visitors.

Dessers had a disappointing game, as he had some good looks at goal, but he failed to convert his chances.

After the game, the 30-year-old striker looked downcast, and he shared his disappointment with the team’s performance.

“It was a really difficult afternoon, it was a tough loss especially as it was at home,” Dessers said.

“That is not what you want to show here especially after our last home game, we want to bounce back and give the fans something, but we obviously didn’t.”

The loss is a big disappointment for Rangers as they remain 13 points behind Celtic, who lost their own game at Hibernian.

Rangers’ next game is against Kilmarnock at the Rugby Park, and Dessers will hope that his side returns to winning ways.

Cyriel Dessers needs to rediscover his scoring boots.

Dessers started the year on fire after coach Philippe Clement benched him for a few games. However, he has tailed off in recent weeks.

The Super Eagles striker has not scored in his last four games for Rangers and this will cause more fans call for his head as they have always done.

For the Gers to fly again, Drssers would have to be at his best.
