Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party has congratulated His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze on his 93rd birthday.
Formerly considered papabile at the 2025 Papal Conclave, Arinze is a Nigerian catholic prelate and a former principal advisor to the late Pope John Paul II.
He was born on November 1, 1932, in the Onitsha Colony of Nigeria.
In a post made in X and titled, “Celebrating Cardinal Arinze at 93”, Obi described the priest’s birthday as a joyous one.
The former governor said that the catholic priest has remained a shining example of what faith, discipline and humility mean.
He also commended His Eminence for continuously making visible efforts towards inspiring generations through his devotion to God and the discipline of the sacrament.
Obi’s words, “Warmest felicitations to His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, on the joyous occasion of his 93rd birthday today.
“Your life remains a shining example of faith, humility, discipline, and service to God and humanity. From your pastoral beginnings in Onitsha to the global apostolate as Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, you have inspired generations with your devotion to God, to the Church and to the moral upliftment of society.
“May God continue to grant you good health and strength, as you exemplify true leadership and spiritual guidance.
“Happy Birthday, Your Eminence. -PO,” Obi wrote.
