A$AP Rocky was one of the rappers Drake fired shots at during his beef with Kendrick Lamar, but in a recent interview, the Harlem rapper reveals why he decided to step back after he clapped back on Metro Boomin‘s “Show of Hands.”
“The battle was between Kendrick and Drake, not Drake and everybody else who might have said something at that time, and that’s mainly why I fell back,” he said.
Rocky says he does not respect Drake’s decision to turn around and sue UMG after losing the rap battle.
“I just hate the way it’s turning out with [Drake] suing and all that. What part of the game is that? What type of s–t is that? That’s none of my business, I guess,” he added.
In a recent interview with Bobbi Althoff, Drake revealed that he is sensitive about being called a “culture vulture,” and Kendrick did on “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria.”
“People will be like, ‘Oh, you’re a culture vulture,’ or people will describe the collaborative efforts that I’ve put forth, and the artists that I’ve picked up and lifted up or shined a light on as me taking, you know?” he said at the time.
“They’ll put a negative spin on it and try and tell me that it’s a self-serving thing or whatever, and I think I get really sensitive about that.”
