New executive council officers have been elected to pilot the affairs of the prestigious Abeokuta Grammar School Old Boys Association (AGSOBA) 9197 Club.
At an election conducted by the electoral committee of the group chaired by a renowned financial expert and chartered stockbroker, Mrs Bola Vaughan, members voted Tolu Sobukunola as the new President.
Sobukunola is expected to lead the association for the next two years along with other elected officials.
A statement issued by Mrs Vaughan and co-signed other members of the committee, AGSOBA Seun Igbalode and AGSOBA Kolade Ilori, disclosed that at the exercise held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, John Olufemi Ogunkoya was elected as the Vice President.
Further, Adeoye Abosede Abisoye emerged as the General Secretary, Bankole Olufemi Abiodun is the new Financial Secretary, Orekoya Kehinde was preferred as the Treasurer, as Adeyinka Abisola McCarthy became the Social Secretary, and Ayanlami Ronke was elected as the Public Relations Officer, while Biola Thomas Olorunsegun was chosen as Welfare Officer 1 and Bayode Bolaji as Welfare Officer 2, with Adebari Oluwaseun Adewale as the Chief Whip.
The chairman of the electoral team, in the statement, congratulated the elected officials and appealed to all members of the club to remain united and support the new excos.
Abeokuta Grammar School is one of the oldest and foremost schools in Nigeria. It was established in 1908.
The citadel of learning boasts a vibrant alumni body of accomplished personalities, including Africa’s first Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka.
The AGSOBA 9197, under the leadership of outgoing club president, AGSOBA Ayobami Osunjimi, won the Champions Award at the school’s 116th anniversary in 2024.
