
The Abia State government has commended the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for its commendable efforts in identity registration and data management across the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu gave the commendation while receiving the State Coordinator of NIMC, Mr. Ukpabi Eni, and his team during a courtesy visit to his office at Government House, Umuahia.
He described identity management as a critical tool for effective planning, service delivery, and governance, stressing that the present administration prioritizes systems that promote transparency and societal development.
The SSG highlighted that under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, initiatives like the Abia Leadership Academy have been launched to empower young Abians and equip them with skills for self-reliance.
He encouraged the Commission to maintain efficiency and professionalism in order to sustain public trust and credibility.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Ukpabi Eni noted that the visit was in line with the directive from NIMC national headquarters to engage key stakeholders across the country.
He expressed appreciation for the effective collaboration between the commission and the Abia State Government.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the delegation, Mr. Moses Ejiogu thanked the SSG for the warm reception and reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to continued partnership with the state.
