Key stakeholders of the Labour Party in Abia State have passed a vote of confidence on the State Governor, Alex Otti and the House of Assembly Member representing Arochukwu, Uchenna Okoro for the construction of abandoned infrastructural projects across the state.
The stakeholders said this during a meeting hosted by the Abia Assembly Majority Leader, Okoro, in Atan Abam, Arochukwu LGA, Abia State.
The meeting was attended by the Abia State Commissioner for Finance, Mike Akpara, the Director-General, Abia State Environmental Sanitation and Protection Agency, Ogbonna Okereke; the General Manager Abia Newspaper Publishing Corporation, Chief Jones Ike; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation, Ugochukwu Okoroafor; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters Luke Ukara; the Local Government and Ward Executives of the Labour Party in Arochukwu led by the Chairman, G. N. Onuoha, and members of the Arochukwu Legislative Council led by their Leader, Ogbatua Chukwuma Kalu.
Other attendees were Nkem Okoro, Elder Kalu Diogu Agwu, Chief J. J. Okoro, Chief Orji K. Okorie, Mrs Oby Jenny, Mr. Eme Awa, and Captain Okey Imuo.
At the meeting, they unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the governor who has within one year in office turned the fortunes of the state around.
The Otti-led government was one year in May but experts and other stakeholders have expressed excitement with Otti’s transformation plans to restore the state to an industrial hub.
In a statement issued by the office of the Majority Leader of the Abia Assembly, Uchenna Okoro, the stakeholders were delighted with the ongoing construction of the 30-kilometer Umuahia Arochukwu road project abandoned for decades.
Okoro said, “The stakeholders were particularly happy with the governor for the ongoing construction of the Ozu – Ndi Okereke – Arochukwu Road and for the appointment of indigenes of Arochukwu LGA into key political positions in his administration and promised to give him all the support he needs to build the New Abia of our dreams.
“The meeting provided me with the opportunity of reeling out most of our projects and programmes which were all geared towards improving the lives of our people while other issues bordering on the growth of the Party in Arochukwu and the Welfare of her members were also discussed during the meeting.
“The vote of confidence passed on us yesterday will no doubt spur us to do more for our people in Arochukwu and Abia State in general.”
The lawmaker pledged to hold regular engagements with stakeholders in the state, particularly Arochukwu.
“We shall ensure that the meeting is made a regular one going forward as it provides us with the opportunity of getting feedback from our party men and women who are closer to the people at the grassroots,” he said.
