WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has condemned the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for setting up a shadow government in the state. Describing the move as “treasonous,” Otti vowed to take severe legal action against the opposition party. Speaking at a meeting with leaders of workers’ unions in the state, Otti expressed surprise at the PDP’s decision to set up a shadow government, complete with a speaker and shadow commissioners. The governor described the move as “baseless” and an indication of ignorance about Nigeria’s political structure. According to Otti, the concept of a shadow government is alien to Nigeria’s presidential democracy. “There’s nothing like a shadow government in a presidential democracy. The problem people have is ignorance, and they refuse to be educated. Shadow governments only exist in parliamentary democracies,” he explained. The governor further stated that the PDP’s shadow government is, in essence, a government in exile, which is not recognized by law and is therefore treasonable. Otti disclosed that he has instructed the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, to address the matter decisively within the framework of the law.
