Abroad Returnee Seeks Justice After UBA Bank Wipes Out ₦150M From His Account on False Death Claim

A Nigerian who recently returned to the country has alleged that United Bank for Africa (UBA) unlawfully withdrew ₦150 million from his account due to an erroneous report of his death.

The accusation came to light during a live video call with human rights activist Gwamnishu Harrison, who vowed to take legal action to support the affected individual.

The returnee, whose identity has not been revealed, stated that the incident occurred in 2023 while he was living overseas. During that time, he regularly deposited money into his UBA account multiple times a year.

Upon returning to Nigeria, he was stunned to learn that his entire savings had been emptied. According to bank officials, the funds were withdrawn by individuals who falsely claimed he had died and was buried.

When he sought answers from the bank, he found police officers waiting, ready to detain him for allegedly causing a public disturbance. He explained that his raised voice stemmed from shock and frustration over the situation.
