Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party has reacted to Tuesday’s accident involving a train en route to Kaduna from Abuja.
Obi, while expressing his sadness over the accident, extended his heartfelt prayers to all the passengers affected.
Recall that a train had derailed from its tracks while conveying passengers from Nigeria’s capital city to Kaduna on Tuesday
The incident left six people injured, according to reports by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
In his reaction, Obi said the rail system is a critical aspect of every nation’s development.
Encouraging Nigerians not to be deterred from using the rail system, Obi urged the Nigerian Government to ensure accountability and trust in the nation’s transport infrastructure.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the Abuja- Kaduna train derailment today. My heartfelt prayers are with the injured and all affected.
“The rail transport system is a critical component of development, and we must continue to embrace it.
“I urge the authorities to act swiftly to provide adequate medical support to the injured, ensure accountability, and restore confidence in our transport infrastructure.
“We keep all affected in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” Obi wrote.
