Senior Special Adviser to Labour Party (LP) National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, on Media Matters, Ken Asogwa, has said his principal sued for peace immediately after the court judgement that sacked Julius Abure’s leadership.

Naijaonpoint reports that the court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee as the lawful leadership of the party.

Justice Lifu, who delivered the ruling, upheld the Nenadi Usman-led committee as the only valid and lawful leadership of the Labour Party.

Asogwa, while responding to questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Wednesday, said that Usman is constituting a reconciliation committee to bring all the warring parties together.

According to him, if the party lacks cohesion, it will not win the 2027 general elections.

Asogwa said, “So the National Chairman understands that a Labour Party that is split, a Labour Party that is not cohesive, a Labour Party that lacks cohesion, can’t win the 2027 election.

“The moment this judgment was given, the first thing she did was to appeal to the warring parties to sue for peace, to say, look, let’s come back together.

“She said today that this is a no victor, no vanquished situation and that nobody should celebrate this judgment.”
