AC Milan and Bournemouth in transfer tug-of-war over Nigeria’s No.1

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has emerged as a top target for both Premier League side Bournemouth and Serie A giants AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window, Footynaija.com reports.

The 24-year-old has impressed this season with Udinese, firmly establishing himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

His performances in Serie A have not gone unnoticed, with reports from Africafoot claiming that Bournemouth have already submitted a €13m bid as they look to reinforce their squad for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Okoye, who has kept three clean sheets this season, joined Udinese from Championship side Watford in 2022. Despite a slow start to life in Italy, the Nigerian international has grown into his role with the Zebrette, becoming one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers.

AC Milan, who were keen on signing Okoye last summer, are also said to be monitoring his situation closely. The Rossoneri failed to strike a deal in 2024 but could return with renewed interest as they seek long-term competition for Mike Maignan.

With three years left on his contract, Udinese are under no pressure to sell. However, a substantial offer could persuade them to part ways with their number one.

Should the move materialise, Okoye could join the growing list of Super Eagles stars plying their trade in the Premier League, or team up with compatriot Samuel Chukwueze at the San Siro.
