The legal team of Stephen Nyegwa,Chief Executive Officer,CEO of Delta Technology and Property Limited has issued a seven days ultimatum to a Gbenga Oladapo Esq,a PortHarcourt based lawyer to issue a public apology to their client in three national dailies or face legal action for calling their client a land grabber.
The legal team to Engr.Stephen Nyegwa made the demand at a press briefing at Ceedarwood estate,off SARS road in ObioAkpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday 28th, October,2025.
Rowlings Iheanacho Iheanyi Esq,lead counsel to Chief Nyegwa in an interview with Journalists said
“With respect to the subject matter of the suit,the matter I am aware commenced in the year 2000 wherein Eze Samuel Kinikawon Nyegwa,father to Stephen Nyegwa, sued Apostle Bathlomew and CO in respect to the family property.
“Sometime in 2016, the high court gave judgement in their favour and Eze Samuel Kinikawon Nyegwa appealed to the court of appeal in 2017.The court of appeal graciously granted his prayers and set aside the Judgement of high court.
“While the matter was pending at the High court, Apostle Bathlomew was selling all the property.We took steps to inform the buyers of pendency of the suit, people were still buying the land.
“The court of appeal granted all the prayers by Eze Samuel Nyegwa that the land in dispute should be shared accordingly to the two kitchens . Samuel Kinikawon Nyegwa belongs to the second kitchen while Apostle belongs to the first kitchen.
“Apostle has sold the entire property off .We have only two percent.Whoever that is trying to defame Stephen Nyegwa is doing it at his own peril.
“The legal team of Stephen Nyegwa has taken steps to write to Barr Gbenga .We have done the needful.He has to retract the allegation of land grabbing against our client and publish unreserved apology in three national dailies within seven days or face legal action. We have set the scale of justice rolling and would do the needful if Barr Gbenga fails to tender public apology”.
Engr Stephen Nyegwa while speaking with Journalists maintained he is not a land grabber and have never taken anything that does not belong to him before.
“The land belongs to Aka family.I am the second wife lineage.I am fighting for my right.The right of second wife kitchen.A man who married two wives his property will be shared equal into two.
“I am.not a land grabber.I am only fighting for my right.What belongs to me” he said.
In his speech,the regent of Rumuagholu community,Eze Sunny Njowhor said the allegation of land grabbing against Stephen Nyegwa is false.
“He is not a land grabber.We all know how Ikwerre people share property of a man who has two wives according to tradition and custom.So the first and second wives will get share from the property if they both have sons.
“I urge the general public to disregard allegation of land grabbing against Engr Stephen Nyegwa as he is only demanding what rightfully belongs to him” he said.
A youth leader in the community, Comrade Prince Amadi in an interview with Journalists stated that the allegation of land grabbing against Engr Stephen Nyegwa is mischievous and misleading.
“We know him.he has been a business man.He is into real estate.He has no criminal tendencies and have never involved in land grabbing.He does due diligence before buying any property.
“There is no property he acquired that is subject of litigation before any court in Rivers State.We are calling on relevant security agencies to invite, interrogate Barr Gbenga to avoid break down of law and order.
“Engr Stephen Nyegwa has given scholarship to over twenty persons in the community.He is a real estate CEO and not a land grabber” he said.
The Chairman of Community Development Committee,CDC in Rumuagholu community, Graham Elendu disclosed that Engr Nyegwa is not a land grabber.
