Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Ogbonna has put to rest growing concerns over the prolonged absence of his close friend and colleague, Alex Ekubo, from social media, assuring fans that the actor is in good health.
Ogbonna, who recently shared a video of himself with Ekubo, disclosed that they had attended an event together over the weekend. According to him, the video was recorded on Saturday at the wedding of Ekubo’s sister, where the actor appeared perfectly fine.
“Alex is very okay. He is in good health and there is nothing wrong with him,” Ogbonna said. He explained that Ekubo’s silence was a deliberate decision to take a break from social media and public engagements, noting that such pauses are sometimes necessary, especially for individuals who have spent most of their adult lives in the spotlight.
“Sometimes, you just want to take a step back,” he added, emphasising that Ekubo is doing well and simply choosing time away from the public eye.
Ogbonna further revealed that during his break, Ekubo has been focused on personal pursuits, family time, and business interests outside Nollywood. He reassured fans that the actor remains in close contact with friends and loved ones.
“When he is ready to come back online, I’m sure he will,” Ogbonna said.
Ekubo’s extended absence had sparked widespread concern among fans, many of whom revisited his social media pages following Ogbonna’s recent video. The actor’s last Instagram post was on December 30, 2024.
