Actor Uzor Arukwe reveals secrets of his versatility
Uzor Arukwe, the charismatic actor whose recent role in Omoni Oboli’s “Love in Every Word” catapulted him into viral fame, is more than just a handsome face on the screen.
He’s a dedicated craftsman, meticulously honing his skills and passionately advocating for a stronger, globally competitive Nollywood.
In a recent interview, Arukwe revealed the secret behind his impressive versatility: “Relentless practice. I exercise my acting muscles a lot. By that, I mean I watch a lot of movies. I watch a lot of great Nigerian actors and bad ones, too. Not saying there are bad actors, but when I watch bad acting, I know what not to do. And what to do better. I keep working on my range, depth and brain because, as actors, we use our brains a lot.”
As the Nigerian film industry continues to evolve, Arukwe has a clear vision for its future. He emphasized the need for higher standards and global representation.
“My wish for Nollywood is for us to tell the type of stories we truly want to tell. We need to represent Africa on a global scale, not just settle for half-baked movies. Our productions should meet international standards. We all have the potential to do better as creatives and tell more compelling stories,” he stated.
March is a month dedicated to celebrating women, and for Arukwe, it holds special significance. The Thin Line star actor spoke about the profound impact women have had on his life and career: “I am a man who was raised by a woman, and I feel so blessed to have women in my life. I don’t think I would be where I am today without them. They have been instrumental to the growth of my career, offering unwavering support and encouragement.”
