Nia Long recently shared a story that shows even Hollywood stars can have humbling moments.
Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the actress recalled a night at a Los Angeles club years ago that she’ll never forget.
“I was at Roxbury back in the day and I had on my Kenneth Cole pumps — I remember!” Long said with a laugh. While out with friends, a man tried to take her hand.
“I’m like, ‘I’m from Brooklyn, don’t be grabbing me, touching on me!’” she joked.
Once outside, her friend clued her in. “We get outside and my girlfriend was like, ‘Girl, you know that was Prince!’” Long said. By the time she went back to find him, the music legend was gone.
Nearly two decades later, fate stepped in again. Long was at her birthday party when Prince appeared. “Oh my gosh, Prince is at my birthday party!” she recalled.
Instead of discussing music, Prince was curious about her hair. “He wanted to talk about my hair. I’ll take what I can get — it’s Prince,” Long said, laughing.
Long said the experience reminded her that even icons like Prince can appear in unexpected places.
“Whatever you want — we can buy hair, makeup, skincare, whatever you want,” she joked.
