Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, over the weekend stirred emotional reactions after he shared a cryptic post announcing the loss of a “dear son.”

Naijaonpoint reports that the actor had written on Instagram, “Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ.”

... quickly went viral, with several blogs and media platforms reporting that the popular Yoruba actor had lost his biological son.

However, fellow actress Opeyemi Aiyeola on Sunday moved to clarify the matter in a statement on her verified Instagram account.

According to her, Chatta did not lose a biological child but a godson who was equally dear to him.

She wrote,“Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson who is also like a son to him. May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully… It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy.”

Aiyeola, who expressed her condolences, also offered prayers for comfort and strength to the bereaved family.

She urged the public to show compassion and empathy in respecting Chatta’s grief, noting that the loss, though not biological, was still harrowing.
