THE Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the killing of his elder brother in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued today by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
According to the police, the suspect—identified as Abubakar Sadiq, 40, of Boga Village in Gombi LGA—was apprehended based on credible intelligence.
Police said operatives from the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters, working alongside professional hunters, carried out the arrest following the incident, which reportedly occurred on January 20, 2026. The deceased was identified as Alhaji Sadiq Boga.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in the killing, alongside five other individuals, and later led officers to the recovery of weapons said to have been used in the crime. These included an AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition.
The police further disclosed that two alleged accomplices, identified as Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both from Fotta Village in Gombi LGA, were later confronted by a joint team of security operatives, hunters, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
According to the command, the suspects attempted to evade arrest, resulting in an exchange that led to their neutralisation.
Additional items recovered at the scene included a locally made single-barrel rifle and a Dane gun.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal group.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He added that all suspects involved would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
