Fresh violence has broken out in Adamawa State, with attacks reported in Lafiya and Boshikiri villages located in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas of the state.

The crisis, which has become a yearly occurrence during farming seasons in the two border LGs, has led to the destruction of property on Wednesday.

The Adamawa State Police Command, in a statement on Thursday, condemned the separate incidents, describing them as “mischief by fire.”

According to the statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, unidentified persons “set fire to thatched huts in Lafiya (Lamurde LGA) and Boshikiri village (Guyuk LGA). Properties belonging to Mrs. Ododumga Kenneth and Mr. Nura Haruna were destroyed in the attacks.”
