The African Democratic Congress has debunked claims that it has chosen a candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship race, insisting that no such decision has been made.
In a statement posted via his verified X account, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the circulating videos and social media posts as misleading.
“The videos and social media posts claiming that the party has ‘picked’ a candidate are false and should be disregarded,” Abdullahi wrote.
He explained that the ADC has already released and widely publicised its timetable for the conduct of primaries and urged all aspirants to strictly follow the guidelines.
“For the purpose of conducting the primaries to elect our flagbearer, a timetable has been issued. All aspirants are expected to adhere to it,” he said.
Abdullahi reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy, stressing that the ADC “remains committed to the highest standards of internal democracy, anchored on a free, fair and transparent electoral process.”
