The camp of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has reaffirmed the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) willingness to collaborate with other opposition parties and political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Naijaonpoint reports that Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja while reacting to reports that a faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is planning consultations with key opposition figures in a bid to reposition itself.
Addressing Vanguard, Ibe said the ADC, describing itself as a coalition party, is prepared to partner with any organisation or individual committed to rescuing Nigeria from what he described as “the malaise rule of Tinubu and the APC.”
“You know, the hands of the coalition party are open, very open. The coalition party is willing to expand its course and to partner with those who are focused on rescuing Nigeria from the real malaise, the real malaise rule of Tinubu and the APC,” Ibe said.
He added that the ADC is already engaging in discussions aimed at building bridges among opposition forces.
Ibe stressed that while talks are ongoing, the ADC remains the most viable platform for opposition alignment.
He said, “To that extent, the ADC, of which Atiku Abubakar is a member, has spoken about discussions that would bring about collaboration.
“Already, they are in the process of holding discussions with parties or individuals who believe that Nigeria and Nigerians deserve a better view than they are currently getting. ADC is the way forward. You understand what I’m talking about? Yes, it is the way forward.”
The reaction from Atiku’s camp followed confirmation that a faction of the PDP is preparing to reach out to key opposition actors, including Atiku himself and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, as part of a broader strategy to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
The planned consultations were disclosed by the PDP South‑South Chairman, Emmanuel Ogidi, who spoke about the party’s ongoing engagement with influential political figures.
