The Disciplinary Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Bauchi State Chapter has suspended Hon. Hassan Haruna as the party’s State chairman.

Naijaonpoint reports that Haruna’s suspension was contained in a press release issued by the ADC on Saturday.

The party cited Haruna’s breach of the ADC’s constitution and anti-party activities as the reasons for his suspension and urged him to stop parading himself in such a position to avoid further legal or disciplinary consequences.

The state executive council also directed the Deputy Chairman, Mahmood Tabio, to serve as the chairman.

Tabio is expected to serve in an acting capacity until the party organises a fresh election to fill the vacancy or until the pending issues surrounding Haruna’s suspension are fully resolved.

Meanwhile, the ADC has stated that the party remains accessible to all Nigerians.

The party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this during an appearance on Channels, Politics Today.

He asserted that the party is self-governing, insisting it is not controlled by any single person.

Abdullahi dismissed claims that the ADC is being groomed to advance the presidential ambition of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

He maintained that no individual can claim ownership of the party.

According to him, such claims are unfounded and largely driven by individuals who lack a proper understanding of the party’s internal structure.
