The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has suspended its chairman, Engineer Sufiyanu Bala, his deputy, Junaidu Muhammed Mudi, and the state secretary, Hauwa Muhammed, following allegations of autocratic decision-making and undermining the party’s founding values.

In a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi, the party’s publicity secretary, Jamilu Muhammed, revealed that the suspension was a result of the leadership’s failure to consult other executives before making key decisions.

“We address you today to announce the immediate suspension of Sufiyanu Bala, his deputy, and secretary Hauwa from the party with immediate effect,” Muhammed stated.

Muhammed further accused the suspended leaders of allowing politicians from Abuja to dominate the party, a move that was strongly opposed by the founding members of the Kebbi ADC.

He emphasised that such a shift went against the foundational principles of the party.

“We will not, after tailoring the party to its present status, allow Abuja politicians to dominate it,” Muhammed declared, highlighting the growing discontent within the party ranks.

Naijaonpoint understands that the suspension followed an extraordinary meeting of loyal ADC members and stakeholders who have been committed to the party long before the recent influx of external political figures.

In the wake of the suspensions, the ADC in Kebbi State has appointed Abdulrazaq Abubakar Isah Iko as the interim chairman and Adamu Aliyu as the acting secretary.

This new leadership will steer the party until a new congress is convened to elect permanent officials.

The Kebbi ADC also issued a stern warning to the suspended members, urging them to cease identifying themselves as party officials or carrying out any party-related activities.

The party condemned any political gatherings organised by the suspended officials, deeming such actions as violations of the Electoral Act.

The developments within the Kebbi ADC signal growing internal conflicts, raising questions about the future direction of the party in the state.
